Bring one decision

Explore your region, crop, product, or market.

Bring one region and rotation to an Aluvial Goal Session. We will help frame the local biology, economics, and market scenarios that matter for your decision.

The whole bean needs a stronger combined return

Domestic fuel can create soybean-oil demand, but additional crush also creates meal. The commercial opportunity is a combined oil-and-protein return that reaches the farm bid.

More domestic processing moves the selling task into two markets: oil customers for food and fuel, and protein customers for livestock, aquaculture, and exports.

Supply can adjust while the corn-soy system persists

Annual soybean acres can shift while established rotations, equipment, agronomy, and buyers keep the underlying corn-soy system in place.

A replacement crop must work across climate, soils, crop protection, operating windows, equipment, and a paying market before it can displace soy at scale.

Trade access, market share, and total demand are different outcomes

Winning more U.S. soybean sales can support basis, but it does not automatically increase total Chinese consumption or global demand.

The demand story is stronger when sales are followed by shipments, sustained imports, and a local bid that survives delivered-cost and timing tests.

Fuel demand has conditions

Biodiesel and renewable diesel can support soybean-oil demand, but nameplate capacity is not output and is not proof of profitable utilization.

Feedstock, energy, finance, policy credits, and contracted fuel sales determine whether plants can buy beans and keep running through the cycle.

Start with the local margin

National supply, trade, and processing data frame the decision; they do not determine the return for a particular region, outlet, or delivery window.

The practical test is where additional demand improves the local soybean return after haul, basis, timing, and the economics of both products are considered.
